Securus Technologies is the most highly ranked high tech provider in the state. One of the greatest beneficiaries of their project is the correctional facilities. The company helps in maintaining the bond between convicts and their friends and relatives in the outside world.
Securus Technologies has introduced programs that have made communication easier between the parties. The users have been much impressed by the programs that allow them to call the inmates from their homes. This is because sometimes having busy schedules and lots of responsibilities may not give them the liberty to drive often to the prisons.
However, having such devices in the hands of the convicts may be very harmful because some of them are yet to reform. Securus Technologies have to ensure that both the inmates and the free world are safe. They have, therefore, taken precautions to ensure that their devices are not destructive in any way.
Securus Technologies uses the Wireless Containment Services. This is a cell phone network that attracts the incoming and outgoing calls from the facilities. They then have the liberty to choose what do with the calls. Only the authorized numbers can connect. Across the state, the company has blocked calls of 1.7 million convicts.
Robert Johnston was a victim of the presence of the illegal cells in prison. Johnston who is currently working as a consultant of the Securus Technologies was once an officer at the correctional facilities. His specialty was to ensure that the cells were clean of any smuggled goods. He was competent and effective in his work, and this resulted in his attempt murder.
Robert Johnston had woken up to prepare to get to work as usual at 5:30 a.m. when he heard some disturbing noises in his front door. Based on the line of the profession he is in, he knew this was a hit. He intentionally called in the hallway to ensure the intruder did not head to the bedroom where his wife was.
He struggled with the intruder for a while and then a larger man pushed him and pointed a gun towards him. After this, he woke up in a hospital bed wounded severely on his stomach and chest. He says that he lives in pain and has undergone 23 surgeries since the incidence. However, this does not stop him from fighting to see that inmates do not have cell phones in the correctional services.
