GPB Global Resources B.V.,is a company conducting oil exploration and production operations around the globe was founded by Mr. Boris Ivanov, a decidedly free-market company though Ivanov got his business start in the former Soviet Union.

Originally working as a diplomat for the Soviet Foreign Service and stationed in the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Ivanov was knee-deep in the attempts by the Soviet Union to obtain an arms deal with the U.S. during the Reagan Administration.

This taught the young diplomat many skills in international negotiation. After the Soviet Union Collapsed, business, rather than politics was the preferred path for many former high-level state employees, and by 1993, Ivanov joined his many colleagues.

Oil seemed to be his domain and after a couple of years of consulting for one of Russia’s emerging oil business, he became vice president of Unibank, where his primary duties were to arrange to finance various oil and gas projects.

He briefly served as deputy Director-General for famed aircraft maker RSK MIG, searching to expand contracts for the company worldwide.

Then he was brought back into the oil business by an offer from Gazpromban to work for as an advisor to its chairman, and then as the chief analyst for the companies oil strategies around the world.

In 2011, he founded GPB Global Resources, a Netherlands Company engaged in petroleum exploration and production in various parts of the world, primarily Africa and South America.

GPB Global Resources has over 1,000 employees, and currently has projects in Venezuela, Niger, and Ethiopia.

As managing director of GPB Global Resources, Mr. Ivanov, who now lives in Monaco, travels thousands of miles a year to manage and solidify deals for his company.

His management style is one of complementary teamwork. The company, under his direction, places great emphasis on finding team members with distinct but complementary skills in order to successfully tackle projects under Ivanov’s general direction.

His firm belief, as is most savvy CEO’s, is that the leader is only as strong as his support team.

The company has evaluated over 200 projects worldwide, gone ahead with 11, and had two major successes, which is high in the petroleum exploration business.
