Sudhir Choudhrie, a Remarkable Vintage Car Enthusiast
Sudhir Choudhrie has built a reputation as a businessperson, investor, and philanthropist in Britain and India. A list of the wealthiest Indians isn’t complete without his name. His $2 billion business empire has contributed to the growth of the Indian economy significantly. Additionally, Sudhir has facilitated numerous philanthropic activities in the country even though he currently resides in London.
His desire to help the less fortunate came after a heart transplant in 1999 at the New York-based Columbus University Medical Center. The risky experience that ended after receiving an organ from a stranger boosted his passion for philanthropy. After settling in London, Sudhir built the C&C Alpha Group’s foundation, the family’s investment firm managed by his son, Choudhrie. The firm diversified his investments in healthcare, aviation, and real estate, among other sectors.
Apart from his vast investments, Sudhir Choudhrie collects and revives vintage vehicles. He has assembled the best collection in his home country, India, which comprises approximately 37 cars drawn from renowned car manufacturers from Italy, France, and Germany. Sudhir collaborates with the best Indian mechanics to ensure that the cars retain their original appearance. Choudhrie has included classic French brands in his possession, including Darracq, Hispano-Suiza, and Cottereau.
France is a reliable motor vehicle producer currently ranked 3rd across Europe and 11th worldwide through Renault and France PSA Group. Sudhir, therefore, ensures his collection represents the reputable motor vehicle production country. France dominated the African market before Japan introduced cheaper off-road vehicles in the region. However, the country continues to export vehicles to the continent because it had already built a brand.
Sudhir Choudhrie owns a Hispano-Suiza, a luxury model manufactured in 1927, but initially hit the market in 1919. The beautifully designed blue vehicle in Choudhrie’s garage has a straight-six engine and a unique black canvas top. His light blue Cottereau 7hp Voiturine produced in 1903 is one of the oldest cars in India’s collection and first international models. Sudhir purchased a one cylinder water-cooled engine car from Maharajah of Patiala. It also has a three-speed gearbox. On the other hand, Sudhir Choudhrie has a 1914 dark brown Darracq 12hp, a four-cylinder engine car.
