Highland Capital Management Plans After The Retirement of Mark Okada
Highland Capital Management delivered startling news about the retirement of Mark Okada on September 30th, 2019. Mr. Okada co-founded the financial advisory firm in 1993 with business partner, James Dondero, in Los Angeles, CA. They moved to a headquartered office in Dallas, Texas the following year and received enormous growth over the years. Mark continues to help Highland Capital in the transitional progress until he leaves the end of December of this year.
James Dondero will take on Okada’s position as Chief Investment Officer while serving his present role as President. Mark is not selling shares of interest in Highland Capital Management, but retiring after committing 26 years. Until his retirement, he continues to serve as Senior Advisor to assist Dondero in the one-man transition of managing over 120 employees.
Okada and Dondero started Highland Capital providing advisory services and investment products in real estate, and private & public equities. Together, they drove the success of the firm and caused it to evolve into one of the top financial advisory companies in the US. A month after announcing Okada’s retirement, Highland Capital had nearly $55 billion under assets management.
