Tim Ioannides – Skin in the Game
Tim Ioannides, owner and dermatologist of Treasure Coast Dermatology in Florida, spoke with interviewers at Medium recently about being a dermatologist, entrepreneur, and leader. Dr. Ioannides began his medical journey at the University of Florida as an intern, continued to medical school and residency at the University of Miami in dermatology and cutaneous surgery.
Throughout his career he received various board certifications and specialties as well as giving back to the University of Miami community as a volunteer associate professor.
Treasure Coast Dermatology began from Tim Ioannides drive to reach people who needed dermatological care that was more than cosmetic procedures. While he was grateful to the clinic that provided him a start into his career, Dr. Ioannides notes that the his first job out of residency was primarily cosmetic surgery and had limited medically driven dermatology services or prevention education.
The latter would soon become a hallmark of his career and his own clinic. Treasure Coast Dermatology seeks to provide medically-based treatment and care for the skin in a clinic with a strong team from the front door to a doctor who uses no computers during patient visits.
In the interview, he addresses his goals for customer service and creating an atmosphere in the clinic where patients feel empowered to care for their own skin. He emphasizes patient education and his personal drive to ensure that all patients are educated on how to best care for their skin and protect themselves from harm, including skin cancer.
He cites his greatest achievements as helping his patients be free from skin cancer and teaching them how to protect themselves and others in the future.
